Excellent write up. I was one of the back markers, with a 5:27 time, but in my defence, I was suffering with cramp and kept having to stop and stretch at the roadside. The snow really came down between the first and second controls and I nearly took my front teeth out on the frozen bite valve on my water bottle.

Cheers for the comment Adrian, and nice photos BTW. I have fond memories of the second feed station and the lovely hot coffee I had there!

Great post -- brought it all back. I tried using a hydration bladder in a small backpack for the first time to avoid the problem of frozen bottles and it worked perfectly. The Go mix I had was even a little warm thanks to my body heat so no shock to the system when gulping down near frozen energy drink.

Good luck with the triathlon training.
